The transfer stories are coming thick and fast on Thursday, with claims now that Newcastle United have made an offer for Ismaila Sarr.
The winger has made a big impression in his first season of European football, joining Metz last summer from domestic football in Senegal.
Only turning 19 this February, as an 18 year old Ismaila Sarr went straight into first team action at the start of last (2016/17) season, ending up making 31 Ligue 1 appearances – 20 places in the starting eleven and 11 off the bench.
His impact could have been even more in his first Ligue 1 season if he hadn’t been called up for the African Cup of Nations, making three appearances in the finals in January/February despite still being only 18 years old at the time.
On the other side of the Channel, France Football claim that their information is that Newcastle have offered 12m euros (approx £10.5m) plus future payments based on hitting certain targets.
However, they also say that Metz look to be holding out for more and haven’t accepted the Newcastle offer, wanting at least 15m euros (around £13m) for their star asset.
A number of clubs have also registered their interest according to France Football, including Ligue 1 side Lille and Newcastle’s Premier League rivals Watford.
Earlier on Thursday, reports from Italy claimed that Pepe Reina had agreed personal terms with Newcastle but had still to decide whether to make the move, as he was wondering whether to remain at Napoli for at least one more season.
