Newcastle’s young England starlet makes it 3 wins out of 3 and now into quarter-finals of Euros
It was very smooth progress for Newcastle United’s Lewis Gibson and his England teammates.
The 16 year old NUFC left-back played the full game on Wednesday as England beat Holland 3-0.
The Under 17 European Championship finals have seen England win all three group games in the last week and Lewis Gibson has played every minute of them.
Thursday 4 May England 3 Norway 1
Sunday 7 May England 4 Ukraine 0
Wednesday 10 May England 3 Holland 0
Lewis Gibson turns 17 in July and has already been linked with any number of Premier League clubs but Rafa Benitez will be determined to keep hold of one of Newcastle’s most promising young players. The Spaniard has put a lot of work into building up the strength of the club below first team level as well – with a number of players brought in these past 12 months from the UK and overseas.
England play this Saturday for a chance to reach the semi-finals of these Under 17 European Championships, with the Republic of Ireland providing the opposition.
