Newcastle pair missing from Scotland squad to face England in key World Cup match
Matt Ritchie was suspended AND injured in the final stages of the Championship season, so sat out the Cardiff and Barnsley games.
However, it appears the player who was arguably Newcastle’s player of the season, is still out injured.
Gordon Strachan has named his squad to play England in the key World Cup qualifier, with Matt Ritchie nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, Grant Hanley was an unused substitute at Cardiff but missed the final match with Barnsley due to an unspecified injury and he is also missing from this Scotland squad.

Halfway through (played five of the scheduled 10 qualifiers so far) the qualifying phase for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Scotland are desperate for a lift, so very unlikely that the decision to leave the Newcastle pair out has been taken lightly.
This is how Group F looks at the moment, with England four points clear at the top and Scotland in fourth, six points behind England.
England have already beaten Scotland 3-0 at Wembley last Autumn.
Group F
13 England
9 Slovakia
8 Slovenia
7 Scotland
5 Lithuania
0 Malta
