New figures show Mike Ashley down to his last couple of Billion
The latest Sunday Times rich list has published its headline figures and Mike Ashley remains top in the North East.
He is also claimed by various other areas such as the East Midlands, where he also tops their local rich list.
Mainly due to Sports Direct losing almost 20% off their share price in the past year, Mike Ashley sees his estimated fortune drop £270m.
However, that still keeps him well ahead at the top with £2.16bn, with football also meaning that Ellis Short is counted amongst the region’s wealthiest.
The Sunderland owner sees his £1.25bn fortune place him second in the list.
Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson also creeps into the top 10, placed tenth with £195m.
