Exclusive reports Newcastle United offer for Aaron Mooy

Newcastle United have made a bid for midfielder Aaron Mooy according to an exclusive on Wednesday morning.

The Manchester City midfielder has had an excellent season for Huddersfield and will tonight at Hillsborough try and help lift them into the play-off finals.

However, Australian football specialists The World Game say that their information is that Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and another unnamed Premier League club, have all put in bids to buy the Australian international.

The player’s agent, Paddy Dominguez, has confirmed he is on his way from Australia to the UK to discuss Aaron Mooy’s ‘options for next season’.

Despite an excellent season where he has been in pretty much everybody’s Championship team of the season, it is unlikely that the 26 year old midfielder will get anywhere close to Manchester City’s team next season, as Guardiola looks to spend big to close the gap on the likes of Chelsea. The Champions now 15 points clear of Man City with one game left to play.

Manchester City picked up Aaron Mooy for a nominal fee from their feeder club, Melbourne City, before instantly loaning him out to Huddersfield for the year.

The World Game report that midfielder is valued at up to £10m by his club and would represent a very nice profit in only 12 months, if he is sold on now to help fund Guardiola’s summer spending.

Mooy is under contract at the Etihad until 2020 and up to now Huddersfield haven’t made an offer for this season’s star player, though this is hardly surprising as they couldn’t come close to affording anything like £10m unless they get through the play-offs and secure the Premier League TV riches.

Paddy Dominguez telling The World Game:

“I have had no contact from anybody at Huddersfield regarding Aaron Mooy for next season.

“That doesn’t mean they won’t contact me, it just means they haven’t to date.

“The options are whether he stays at Manchester City, or whether Huddersfield want him should they be promoted, or there is the possibility of a sale to other clubs.”

Last week, it was reported that Rafa Benitez had met Manchester City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, to discuss possible summer transfers, the two players in question being Brazilian midfielder Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala, the French defender.

However, it was also said that Rafa did also have an interest in a number of other Man City players and could follow up interest in them later, no surprise if Aaron Mooy is one of those, especially with the Newcastle boss having seen him up close this season.

The on-loan player pulled the strings when Huddersfield beat Newcastle in their first home game of the season and he went on to get four goals and seven assists in the Championship, featuring in 45 of their 46 games in the normal league season, as well as the 0-0 draw in the first leg of the play-off against Sheffield Wednesday.

Having already agreed a £6.2m transfer of Christian Atsu according to widespread reports on Tuesday, Rafa Benitez looks to be following up on his stated intention of making signings as soon as possible, in order to get the best preparation for this step up to the Premier League.
