Interesting Championship form table ahead of Sheffield Wednesday v Newcastle
This is how the Championship form table looks ahead of Sheffield Wednesday v Newcastle.
At the very bottom you have Rotherham, they have lost 14 of their last 15 matches, the other being a draw.
The latest defeat came midweek when Sheffield Wednesday were less than convincing but still came away with a 2-0 win.
That brought to an end a run of four games without a win for the Owls, which going further back was only one win in seven before this victory at Rotherham.
Those three points dragged Wednesday back into the play-offs but they still have Fulham breathing down their necks only two points behind, though the Owls now have local rivals Leeds only three points ahead.
Whilst Sheff Wed have now picked up eight points from the last 18, Newcastle have 11 points, with defeat to Fulham the only one in this six game period and actually the only league defeat since Blackburn away on 2 January.
Brighton won once again at QPR on Friday night to confirm they are back on song, with five wins in six and looking nailed on for the top two.
A win today for Newcastle would surely seal it for the Magpies as well,
Reading are having a late run and are fourth in the form table but remain 11 points behind Newcastle, whilst losing the last two matches has finished off Leeds as even remote contenders for automatic promotion, now 15 points adrift of Newcastle.
That leaves Huddersfield who are 10 points behind Newcastle though the Terrier shave a game in hand. However, three defeats in their past six games have seen them on the slide and they have to win at Forest today to pout any kind of pressure on Newcastle before the Magpies play in the teatime match at Sheff Wed.
