This is how the Championship form table looks ahead of Newcastle v Leeds.
The stresses and pressures are clearly showing as teams fight it out at both ends of the table, the latest results also confirming that there is very little between those at the top and bottom.
Only three of the 24 Championship clubs have won more than three of their last six matches, as teams take points off each other.
Newcastle and Leeds sum up the indifferent form for most, the two clubs 16th and 13th respectively in the Championship form table, with both managing a mediocre two wins, two draws and two defeats.
In fact, only one of the Championship’s top six is also top six when it comes to recent form.
Huddersfield are ninth with three wins and three defeats, Reading are seventh having won three and drawn one, whilst Sheffield Wednesday have the same last six match record – two wins, two draws and two losses.
Newcastle United are only two points off the top of the Championship after the defeat at Hillsborough but fair play to Brighton if they stay at the summit.
Chris Hughton’s players have taken last season’s late disappointment as perfect motivation, now showing top of the form table as well as the Championship. Their record showing five wins and the only blemish being losing to Leeds United.
The only really important thing for Rafa Benitez and his team is getting over that promotion line but it would be great to see the Newcastle team putting together a little run of displays and results to round off the season.
