It’s football not rugby lads…

I started writing this at half-time of the Ipswich 3 Newcastle 1 away game (watching at home not at the game…), having watched yet another goal conceded shortly before half/full-time.

How many times has this happened this season, conceding either just before the half or in the last few minutes of full time? Here goes:

Aug – Huddersfield (H) Wells 45+1

Aug – Reading (H) McCleary 45

Sep – Villa (A) Tshibola 88

Sep – Norwich (H) Dorrans 44

Oct – Preston (A) OG Lascelles 90

Dec – Forest (A) OG Lascelles 86

Jan – Birmingham (A Cup) Jutkiewicz 42

Jan – Oxford (A Cup) Hemmings 46, Lopez 87

Feb – QPR (H) Washington 44, OG Clark 90

April – Leeds (H) Wood 90+5

April – Ipswich (A) Sears 43, Huws 90+3

I’ve heard of “Fergie Time” but this is ridiculous, concentrate for the whole game not 40 mins per half. How many points has this cost us so far this season?!?!

In my last article I fancied a 2-0 win at Ipswich with Murphy getting both.

At least Murphy scored when given the service, which was in scarce supply today despite two wingers.

As for the result I’d still rather be in our position than in third but we’ve gone into reverse lately whereas Brighton are in cruise control – 9 out of 9 points but we’ve collected 1 out of 9 so fair play to them, they deserve the title.

Will we stumble to automatic promotion?

I still think so, although I’m certain Derby will roll over at home to Huddersfield (ED: Huddersfield leading 1-0 after half an hour).

Perhaps Sky will rearrange the fixtures again for broadcasting to put even more pressure on us…

Don’t panic! Me thinks we’ll only get another 2 points on current form.

At least Gayle might be back for the first 25 minutes of the play off semi we lose to Sheff Wed.

Pathetic. We will need to win our remaining three games now.

Which is great cos we definitely look like doing that!
      You’re right…PATHETIC.

This car crash has been waiting to happen since Xmas. Poor tactics based on a formation that only works if you have a bone fide number 10, not Sissoko’s lost brother. A defence that has been creaking for months, with arguably our best CH frozen out. Endless shuffling of deck chairs with the same suspects rotated with little or no effect. That said the real ire should be aimed yet again at Ashley. Gambling again to keep our money in his deep pockets and getting it hopelessly wrong again. By some miracle we may still gain promotion but the paper over the cracks is painfully thin

I did say back in February that if the performances did not pick up we would be fighting for a play off place, hope i am wrong, but it is looking increasing possible. Rafa the tinka man and we all know what happened next.
