Sadly, the Paul Gascoigne health issues are seemingly never ending.

The latest news sees Gazza having to cancel a public engagement because he is still ‘fighting his demons’.

January saw yet more headlines when his representatives said that the former Newcastle and England player had gone into rehab once again to deal with his alcohol issues

Due to speak at a function in Warrington next weekend (25 March), the organisers have now confirmed that Paul Gascoigne has had to pull out.

The statement released by event organisers HC Promotions has seen them express their disappointment at the news but also their sympathy, saying that Gazza’s health is the ‘main priority’.

HC Promotions Statement:

“This news has deeply saddened us all here, as I’m sure it has the hundreds of fans that have purchased tickets to meet arguably England’s greatest footballer.

“But we have to put Paul’s health as our main priority.

“We can only apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, the situation with Paul is completely out of our control, but again Paul’s health must come first.

“We would like to put on record how thankful we are for the support and help from Terry and Freda, in Paul’s management team, in resolving this unpleasant situation as it has been second to none.

“We wish Paul all the support and help he needs in getting rid of his demons. Keep fighting Gazza.”

So much talent but brain dead. Never learnt from his mistakes and has no-one to blame but himself. Get a grip Paul before its too late.

I agree 100% with everything you said. He had enough natural talent to have become one of the all time greats of world football but unfortunately he chose another path. It seems it’s already too late for Gazza now. Instead of being talked about alongside the likes of Pele, Di Stefano, Cruyff and Maradona, he’s just going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

I am not convinced that you ‘choose’ the kind of path people go down when you have such problems… A little bit more sympathy would be appropriate…
