The Newcastle team v Huddersfield.

Rafa Benitez has made two changes.

Daryl Murphy replaces Yoan Gouffran who drops to the bench.

Likewise, Vurnon Anita comes in for DeAndre Yedlin, the Dutchman’s first start since his injury against Brentford in January.

Yedlin is on the bench and Dwight Gayle joins him there BUT no sign of Aleksandar Mitrovic in the matchday squad.

Newcastle United:

Darlow, Anita, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett, Ritchie, Colback, Shelvey, Atsu, Diame, Murphy

Elliot, Hanley, Gamez, Yedlin, Perez, Gouffran, Gayle

wonder what Yedlin`s done wrong, at least he didnt` drop Atsu to retain Gouff

    • Toon Wolf

Yedlin’s been poor the last game or so, so hopefully after being dropped he’ll come back reinvigorated.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

yip & Verns been out since January and Huddersfield have a very, very fast winger

  • Andy Mac

There was some criticism of Yedlin at Brighton, not sure if it was warranted ? However if you’re playing 1 up front that 1 needs, as a minimum, to hold the ball up for others to join in.

  • Lord

Nice to see Murphy get a start.

Brighton fans will be supporting us this afternoon, I reckon, after their collapse at Forest.

Just what the Doctor ordered my Lord

      • Lord

The Doctor also ordered a converted penalty – ref must have listened to Rafa’s mid week moan.

  • Leicester Mag

Umm see Passback still retained maybe nieve in hoping the success gained against Brighton might have led to retention of 2 up front

  • steve

Another horribly negative move bringing Anita back in for Yedlin.

  • Kev-82

Who’s this Diame fella sprinting all over the pitch!!

  • Lord

  • Carlo Ancelotti

everythings` going great so fingers crossed for the 2nd half

  • hetonmag

Just one worry for me and that’s going down to 10 men Colback is way off timing his tackles.

  • Kev-82

Can we play all our remaining games away from home?

  • Damon Horner

Still waiting for these wheels to come off from this very poor team…

I bet those on here willing us to fail will have a bit of a different opinion after beating Brighton and Huddersfield.

    • hetonmag

Damon people will still complain because we didn’t play like Barcelona.

      • Damon Horner

or evidently gripe at “the happy clappers” because their negativity is looking a bit short sighted now.

    • TheNutJob

the only people complaining are the likes of you, get a life pal

  • TheNutJob

an immense game from the lads

Yedlin and mitro needed dropping to gove em a bit of time to think. Yedlin was poor at the back against brighton and i cant remember a pass going right for him. Anita is more defensive and more tidy with his work. He also has a very good engine as you could see yedlin tire at the end.

I still prefer anita as a first choice right back.

Murphy had to be given a chance up top. With mitro looking toothless and gayle only just back. Very concerned about colback though. He should be no more than a squad player if anything.

Happy with 3-1 and top of the league. This is where the marathon really kicks in and where the others start to run out of puff.

    We are goin up
