Goals in the 60th minute and 89th minute sunk Brighton on Saturday afternoon at Nottingham Forest.
Only seconds after coming off the bench, Zach Clough gave Forest the lead, then Ben Osborn wrapped it up with a minute to go.
There was still time for Zach Clough to add a third goal from the penalty spot in the eighth minute of injury time, adding insult to injury for Chris Hughton.
Chris Hughton’s team had hoped/expected to win and go back to the table at least temporarily, putting pressure on Newcastle and Huddersfield before their teatime kick-off.
Instead, as you can see by the updated Championship table below, Huddersfield have the massive carrot of going only three points behind Brighton with a game in hand, IF they beat Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Rafa Benitez and his team can go five points clear of Brighton in second and 11 ahead of third place, IF they win at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Maybe a little premature to talk about a collapse but with 11 games to go, the last eight Championship matches now show only three wins for Brighton – with two draws and three defeats.
Elsewhere, the other three clubs in the top six all won this weekend.
