The Rafa Benitez Norwich Press Conference has taken place on Monday lunchtime.
The Newcastle Manager expecting the trip to Carrow Road to prove ‘very tough’.
After a dramatic collapse, the Canaries have swung back into decent form after the turn of the year, their last seven Championship games showing five wins and only one defeat.
Having said that Dwight Gayle would only return when the striker felt ‘confident’ enough about recovery from his hamstring injury, Rafa today confirmed that his number nine WOULD be in the squad that travels to Norfolk for tomorrow’s game.
Rafa was also predictably quizzed about another of his strikers, Aleksandar Mitrovic.
A bizarre game on Saturday saw Mitro score the winner despite hardly getting a kick in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch.
Then Rafa Benitez sub him at half-time to prevent a potential red card after the Serbian picked up a yellow card that was never a booking, only to avoid a second yellow card that he almost certainly should have got!
Rafa repeated that his number 45 shouldn’t have got that yellow card at Molineux and then went on the offensive, claiming it is Mitrovic who isn’t getting enough protection and free-kicks.from the referees.
First quotes from the Rafa Benitez Norwich Press Conference:
