The Predicted Newcastle team v QPR

Here is the predicted Newcastle team v QPR that I think Rafa Benitez will choose on Wednesday night.

It will be a welcome return to some football after the conclusion of the modern day madness that is Sky Sports’ January madness.

After a reserve side was put out at the weekend which helped propel Oxford into the fifth round of the FA Cup, how many, if any, of those players will survive to start tonight?

I fancy only one, with Isaac Hayden lining up alongside Jonjo Shelvey, for what is surely Newcastle’s strongest midfield pairing.

Ayoze Perez was the only other starter from the Rotherham match to also play at Oxford but I can see him back on bench duty. Along with many others he was shocking n that cup game and I think Mohamed Diame will be straight back in.

Yes he has been out at the African Cup of Nations in Gabon but he only played in one match and that was the dead rubber final group match when Senegal drew 2-2 with Algeria nine days ago.

Diame’s teammate Sadio Mane came on as a sub last night for Liverpool and with the extra day and the fact Mohamed Diame has been back in training with Newcastle this week, I think he is set to start.

Elsewhere, Rafa Benitez made clear he was keeping Daryl Murphy for this QPR match and sadly Mitrovic’ finishing on Saturday won’t have given Rafa any reason to change his mind.

With Atsu still involved in the AFCON tournament and Gayle, Anita & Aarons still out injured, I can’t see many selection dilemmas for the United boss.

Gamez and Lazaar have done nothing to suggest the steady Paul Dummett will be replaced, likewise Hanley won’t have put any pressure on the first choice centre-backs.

Always a chance Rafa will stick Jack Colback in but all things being equal, I see this starting eleven below.
