Very entertaining comments from Aston Villa fans as look forward to Newcastle match

The way things have turned out, it makes you almost feel sorry for Aston Villa fans…

…but not quite.

The Championship’s biggest spenders fighting relegation instead of even dreaming of the play-offs.

After forcing yet another manager out, they then get landed with Steve Bruce – how unlucky can you get?

Aston Villa fans voting as usual with their feet and deserting, their home crowds dropping to half of what Newcastle get (twenty six thousand at Villa Park for last home match v Barnsley).

Villa arrive at St James Park without a win since Boxing Day and the bluster and blame avoidance gets ever worse from Steve Bruce.

Can Newcastle United add to their misery? This is what the Aston Villa fans are saying ahead of Monday night…

Aston Villa fans via their top message board VillaTalk:

‘I wonder how we would have done this season if Rafa Benitez was our manager.’

‘This will either be a Bruceyfied 0-0 solid no frills anti football bore draw. Or, that won’t work and we’ll get hammered.’

‘I think we’ll lose, we seem to lose no matter what else happens at the moment, but I think we’ll be surprisingly competitive.’

‘Obviously we badly need points, but the sheer hilarity factor of beating them, or at least stopping them from winning, would be brilliant.

They really hate us, and no matter how shit we’ve been (and boy have we been shit), and no matter how badly they’ve needed the win, they can’t seem to beat us.

Whether that’s to stop themselves from going down or whether it’s getting one back on us for either sending them down or then bringing them down with us.

They so badly want to beat us it’s untrue.’

‘I have a weird feeling that we will get a draw out of them. It’s just that thing with it being Newcastle and how much they hate us, yet still failed to take a win off us last season.’

‘This will be bad.

We have an absolute stinking record at St.James as well.

Gayle and Ritchie will have a field day vs Chester, Amavi and Johnstone.’

‘This is going to be horrible.’

‘Will not be watching.’

‘4 or 5 nil, I reckon.’

‘2 for Gayle, 1 for Shelvey and maybe a consolation goal for us from somewhere.’

‘To me it says they are more likely to lose at home and given that the presure we as fans are putting on our players at VP I actually think we could get something up there in Scotland.’

‘I hope for Villa’s sake Bruce replaces the keeper for this one. Shelvey will shoot from every angle and Johnston will be put under tremendous pressure from the start of the game.’

‘The only positive for Bruce being he hasn’t got far to get a taxi back to his roots.

All on live TV for the whole nation to see how far we have fallen.’

‘This “excuse” or accusation that our fans are either fickle or a miserable bunch of moaners is completely wrong. Either here on VT or at a game, give us lot something positive to cheer or comment about and we will.

Give the fans a load of sh*t and any fan worth his own pride will be hurt and give a passionate reaction.’

‘We last beat Newcastle at St James Park in 2005 (3-0). Since then we have drawn 4 and lost the other 6 at their place.

Newcastle fans will relish the prospect of winning this one because they have grown to rather dislike us of late (I almost look forward to seeing their banners).

I would like to say that we tend to play better against the better teams, that Newcastle will not be as up for beating us as some teams in this division have been and that neither team has won one of the last 3 games between the two teams.

Current form and the fact that we have gone 11 games since we last beat Newcastle suggest a win is highly unlikely for us. A fourth draw on the trot between the two teams would do nicely but is I fear only slightly less unlikely than a win without say a three goal start for us.

It looks like another sorry defeat then but I hope this prediction is as wide of the mark as have been my recent predictions of Villa wins.’

A defeat at Newcastle should hopefully see the end of potato head and his dinosaur management style. Roll on Monday for another instalment of the AVFC decline.’

‘In some bizarre sense of morbid curiosity I’ll probably subject myself to sitting through this. Although if we go down by more than 2 goals I’ll be switching over.’

‘A heavy, heavy loss. 5-0 to them. Anyone going to the this must be mental. Unless they support Newcastle of course.’

‘If Bruce is still here i hope we get beat 8-0.’

‘Probably a dull 2-1 or 1-0 loss. Not so horrific to justify greater rage as it’ll be easier for him to point out its a tough fixture, nor so great for us that we can take any actual pleasure out of the night.’

‘I don’t see this as a foregone conclusion at all.  We’re playing well enough that we can give any team a game.  We just need to cash in on our chances and try not to be punished by silly mistakes.

We’re as likely to lose to Rotherham as Newcastle and as likely to beat Newcastle as Rotherham.

The quality is there in the squad that we won’t be out-classed by anyone in this division, not even Newcastle.

I’d love this to be our watershed game, but I’m long past expecting or hoping for it.  Just don’t be sh*t please Villa.’

Shelvey will destroy us shooting from wherever.

There wingers/fullbacks will destroy Hutton and Amavi.

Gayle and whoever will slowly wear down Chester & Baker.’

‘This match is on my birthday, and I will be up in Scotland so I am going to drive down for this match.

I am going with my old Newcastle friend so I really hope we somehow nick a win. I had to pay him 50 quid last season because I bet we’d finish higher than Newcastle.

I almost took the same bet this season.’
