Rafa Benitez QPR Press Conference transfer message “We’re confident we can still do something”

The Rafa Benitez QPR Press Conference has taken place on Tuesday lunchtime.

The Newcastle Manager saying that he felt sorry for the fans after Saturday’s dismal 3-0 defeat but also insisting that his players did well in that first-half, apart from not putting the ball into the back of the net.

Apart from that there was the usual Rafa message of everybody working really hard, plus the United boss saying that Newcastle’s next opponents are ‘strong and difficult to break down’.

Of course the main question was always going to be what Rafa Benitez would say about transfers and in particular, Andros Townsend.

Benitez was evasive about the winger and simply said that he was still optimistic something would happen in terms of incoming transfers.

The Manager though did confirm that Cheick Tiote was in talks about a move to China.

Whatever does, or doesn’t, happen today, the only thing that is important is six points this week – that then will take care of most potential negativity that could arise due to nothing maybe happening off the pitch.

First quotes from the Rafa Benitez Oxford Press Conference:

We’re confident we can still do something good for the team (on transfers) but there is no news.

“The main thing now is that everybody pushes in the same direction.

We did well in the first half (at Oxford) but did not take our chances. The main thing for me is I feel sorry for our fans.

“It’s the Championship now and we want to win. QPR are doing better now, they have had some good results in their last few games.

“My focus is on the next game. We were working really hard today to prepare for it.

“QPR change systems and they are quite strong and difficult to break down. It will be a tough game for us.”
