Predicted Newcastle team v Oxford

Here is the predicted Newcastle team v Oxford.

Newcastle attempting to reach the first ever FA Cup fifth round under the ownership of Mike Ashley.

The last time was 2005/06, Newcastle beating Mansfield and Cheltenham, before winning 1-0 at home to Southampton in the fifth round, eventually losing 1-0 to Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

Changes are inevitable and Rafa Benitez has said that Jesus Gamez and Aleksandar Mitrovic are in line to start, which I believe will happen.

Gayle, Aarons and Anita are all still out, plus Atsu, Mbemba and Diame remaining in Gabon at least until later this week.

I fancy Rafa Benitez might once again try out the 3-5-2 system that did ok in the first half at Birmingham, so Yedlin and Lazaar can use their pace down the flanks.

Haidara is also back in the squad and he and Grant Hanley can make up the back three.

An outside chance that Rob Elliot could get a first game back at senior level but far more likely Matz Sels will remain as the cup keeper for the time being.

Yoan Gouffran did well in a more central/free role in the replay at St James Park, so he could potentially go up in support of Mitro and add some mobility around the box and link with the midfield.

Jack Colback is back after illness and Rafa could take the chance to protect both Hayden and Shelvey with Championship games to follow.

Cheick Tiote still hasn’t found a new club, so he can earn his keep once again.

Always a chance Rafa could give a younger player a chance but I fancy that to be limited to maybe Daniel Barlaser getting some pitch time from the bench.
