Alan Judge has reacted to transfer speculation regarding his future.

The opening of the January transfer window has brought renewed speculation that he could be on his way to Newcastle United, as well as alleged interest from other clubs.

The midfielder is still recovering from injury but with his contract ending in June, he could be an attractive proposition with a transfer fee much lower than would otherwise be the case.

However, Alan Judge has taken to his Twitter account on Friday morning to give an answer to the latest bit s of speculation, stating:

“Haven’t spoke to anybody regarding my future.

“So don’t believe everything u read.”

With 14 goals from midfield before his injury late last season, Alan Judge could be seen by Rafa Benitez as a valuable addition for the promotion run-in and potentially beyond.

As well as the 14 goals, no other Championship player got more than Judge’s 11 assists in the league in 2015/16..

In an interview last week, Alan Judge did confirm that Newcastle had shown interest in him this past summer and that it gave him ‘confidence when there’s interest from such a big club’.

The midfielder though saying that he wasn’t far enough along on his recovery for Newcastle when they made their enquiry, plus the player states that claims he’d had a medical on Tyneside were wide of the mark.

Alan Judge speaking to the42.ie 27 December 2016:

“All I know is that there was contact (with Newcastle) in the summer. When I found out, I had just had the screws taken out of my leg.

“I never went up there (to St James Park) and had a medical, I never even left my couch.

“I think they just wanted to see how far along I was. I wasn’t where they wanted me to be and I wasn’t where I wanted to be either. So it wouldn’t have been fair on anybody (to make the move).

“We’ll just wait and see (on any potential move in January). It’s the last thing on my mind at the moment.

“It’s nice, it gives you great confidence when there’s interest from such a big club (like Newcastle), but after that went by, my mind was just on getting fit. That’s the main thing.”
