Vurnon Anita thinks it is going to be a ‘battle’ when Newcastle face Burton.
The United full-back/midfielder says it is a case of Newcastle needing to play to their strengths as they attempt to make it three wins in a row.
Anita says that playing second bottom Wigan proved that ‘every game you have to work hard’, with Newcastle coming away with the three points on Wednesday night, despite the home side having a little bit of a go in the second-half.
The Dutch international says that Burton are ‘a good team’ and that has certainly been the case at home.
At the Pirelli Stadium, Burton have won five and drawn two of their 10 games, picking up 17 of the 22 points they have collected so far.
Victories over the likes of Derby, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday show what they are capable of, plus they have the third best defensive record at home of the 24 Championship clubs.
Vurnon Anita talks to NUFC TV:
“Every game you have to work hard and you could see that every player wanted to get the three points (at Wigan).
“It is going to be difficult (at Burton), they are a good team, we need to be ready.
“We are top of the league and they want a win from us, so we have to be ready for the battle and go there to put a good performance in
“We have to be focused and work as a team – if we do that the chances are that we will win.
“This is going to be a battle, it is going to be hard, but we have to use our own strengths.
“We work hard to keep clean sheets and we have done it (consecutive clean sheets v Birmingham & Wigan), we just have to keep fighting and keep it tight at the back.”
