Sitting in the bars of Benidorm watching lots of football over the last few days (usually waiting for wor lass to get ready), I have had time to review the season so far at this halfway stage for Newcastle United.
I am currently watching Brighton v QPR, the home side are three up against 10 men – but I’m not impressed.
QPR have had plenty of chances and if they (Brighton) give us the space they’ve given them, we’ll beat them.
Last night was disappointing but Sheffield Wednesday came with a game plan and it worked – they can’t play like that at Hillsborough and we’ll beat them.
As for the rest:
Huddersfield are the best team the toon have played this season but they are hit and miss.
Leeds are a team in form but we battered them at their place.
Reading were the worst team we’ve played this season and I think they’ll fall away.
Derby and Villa are on a roll but have left it too late.
I am usually pretty negative when asked about Newcastle United – that’s what 40 years of watching them do to you – but I can honestly say that it will be the biggest shock of all if we don’t get promotion.
The southern press and the pundits are going overboard about Brighton and the trolls are out on social media…
Don’t panic though, we are by far the best team in the Championship and this is from a usually pessimistic fan!
