Sky Sports pundit predicts ‘biggest mismatch’ in England – Burton v Newcastle
Nigel Clough claimed that Saturday’s Burton v Newcastle clash was the biggest mismatch in English football.
Burton with their tight stadium that holds less than seven thousand fans and a club that reached as high as the Conference/National League, only 14 years ago.
Then Newcastle with average crowds of over fifty thousand even in the second tier and a rich history dating back to the 1890s.
Nigel Clough also lamented the fact that the game hadn’t been chosen for live TV and it is hard to argue after watching Wednesday night’s match at Wigan.
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton thinks Newcastle have got over their ‘dodgy week’ and are ‘back consistent’, picking up six goals and six points without conceding in recent days.
Kind of contradicting himself when it comes to a reasoning for his prediction, Prutton says that on the one hand ‘it’s not a gimme because it’s the Championship’ but then adds ‘I see a Newcastle win easily here’.
Let’s hope he is right with the latter – David Prutton eventually going for a 2-0 away win for Newcastle on their first visit to the Pirelli Stadium.
He also goes for wins for Brighton at Birmingham and Reading at Blackburn, a set of results that would see the status quo remain for the Championship top three.
David Prutton talking to Sky Sports:
“It’s a tall order for Burton.
“It is a tough place to go but I just feel that Newcastle are back in winning form after that dodgy week.
“They are back consistent and at Burton, who have lost their last two, for me it’s not a gimme because it’s the Championship, but I see a Newcastle win easily here.”
