Sky Sports pundit, David Prutton, has made his prediction for Newcastle’s clash at Wigan.
Prutton describes Newcastle as ‘flying’ at the minute, which appears a little bit of an exaggeration with one win in the last four games but to be fair, the victory over Birmingham couldn’t have been more emphatic.
As David Prutton points out, in contrast Wigan are struggling and the club 23rd in the table have failed to score in their last four home Championship games.
However, it is also worth noting that in their last 13 league games, home and away, Wigan have only conceded more than one goal on a single occasion.
The Sky Sports pundit forecasts a dominant 3-0 away win for Newcastle, which I think we all would settle for ahead of the game.
Ahead of tomorrow’s game, both Brighton and Reading play tonight, with the two clubs having the opportunity to move two points ahead and close to within three points of Newcastle, respectively.
David Prutton predicts Brighton to win at Blackburn but Reading to draw at sixth placed Leeds United.
A combination of results which would see Newcastle lead Brighton by only a point still but eight ahead of third placed Reading, who are currently four ahead of the next nearest pursuer.
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton:
“Newcastle are flying while things are getting tougher for Wigan, who haven’t scored in their last four home league games.
“That could be five after this one as Newcastle are so solid on the road.
“They’ve won 22 points away this season – a joint-high away points haul in the top four divisions with Scunthorpe – and conceded just five goals on the road.”
