Why not this Newcastle team v Nottingham Forest?
Losing to both Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday in the past month, has led to much debate on who should play in the Newcastle team v Nottingham Forest.
Jack Colback came in for much criticism against the Owls but was it justified?
Well, we all know he was never going to be up to the job of being a direct replacement for Jonjo Shelvey – but then why should he have to be?
I think that by adding other attacking dimensions to the Newcastle team v Nottingham Forest, you can keep Colback in the team doing what he does best – scurrying around breaking up attacks and giving the ball to better players.
With he and Hayden giving a decent defensive protection, I think it then gives Rafa Benitez the opportunity to then play attacking players in the full-back positions – with Lazaar and Yedlin given license to get forward in the knowledge that the midfield pair will be looking to cover.
Forest are sure to be ultra negative and so surely Christian Atsu deserves his chance?
When coming off the bench against Sheffield Wednesday he was easily United’s biggest threat and the speedy winger deserves his chance instead of the negative selection of Gouffran.
Others might sight Mitrovic as the option to give more goal threat but I don’t think there is a desperate need to dramatically change Rafa’s formation – instead he just needs to change the player operating inside it.
