The EFL Team of the week has been named and once again it includes one of Newcastle United’s stars.

The shambles at the City Ground saw all kinds of action as Steve Martin intervened on the home side’s behalf.

Former Forest player Karl Darlow though was the player who stood out for all the right reasons, saving two penalties yet still ending up on the losing side.

I have to admit that I did quickly scan down the list of names first to check whether Henri Lansbury had somehow been included…

Karl Darlow named in the EFL team of the week, with their official website stating:

‘Darlow was unfortunate to find himself on the losing side following a remarkable display of goalkeeping against Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

The Newcastle stopper saved two penalties against his former club, and performed admirably despite the nine-man Magpies falling to a 2-1 defeat.’
