Fans choice of Newcastle team v Sheffield Wednesday
Using our interactive feature, NUFC team selector, supporters have chosen their Newcastle team v Sheffield Wednesday.
The preferred collective formation chosen was 4-4-2 with Mohamed Diame selected in a more withdrawn role to play in place of Jonjo Shelvey in central midfield.
Supporters then using the opportunity to open up the season long debate of playing Mitrovic alongside Dwight Gayle.
Whilst the fans may favour this solution in tonight’s match, it remains to be seen whether Rafa Benitez agrees – although the United boss has conceded that his team will probably have to play in a different formation/style to make up for the loss of Shelvey.
On the wings, Yoan Goffran just edges out Christian Atsu, with Matt Ritchie easily first choice on the flanks for the challenge of Sheffield Wednesday.
Goalkeeper and back four are pretty much easily taken care of, although Vurnon Anita was relatively close to DeAndre Yedlin, the preference of fans being around 60/40 in favour of the American defender.
