Two weeks ago it was reported by L’Equipe that Newcastle were interested in a January move for Nicolas Pepe.
The 21 year old winger has recently broken into the Ivory Coast senior set-up after playing for Angers in Ligue 1 this season and impressing, with two league goals and a number of assists.
As well as Newcastle United scouting the player, Monaco, Roma, Juventus and Lille were also credited with ongoing interest.
Nicolas Pepe is under contract until June 2019 and L’Equipe reported that relegation threatened Angers are looking for up to 10m Euros (approx £8.4m), plus bonuses based on his progress.
Now Le10Sport have revealed in an exclusive that Lille have made an offer that is seen as derisory by Angers, with the French media organisation adding that their inside information is that Angers are expecting bids from both Newcastle United and Lyon in the coming days, with both set to make offers of over 5m euros.
The French League is currently on a winter break and Nicolas Pepe has just been named in the Ivory Coast squad that is competing at the African Cup of Nations.
The expectation in the French media is that the promising winger will have a move sorted before he heads off to Gabon for the tournament in early January, which runs from 14 January to 5 February 2017.
