Claims Henri Lansbury will deliberately get 10th yellow to avoid Newcastle trip
Henri Lansbury has now achieved some kind of fame, notoriety, infamy…
A quick check reveals that it isn’t just Newcastle fans who he winds up, with his own Nottingham Forest fans having a wide range of views on a player who is now in his fifth season at the City Ground.
One of the many not to make it at Arsenal, Henri Lansbury arrived as a 22 year old in summer 2012 for around £1m.
An attacking midfielder, he has scored a decent 32 Championship goals in those four and a half years, with six already this season.
However, his disciplinary record is even better/worse, with 39 bookings and one sending off for Forest in the Championship. In only 130 league games (and 15 as a sub), Henri Lansbury picks up a booking almost once every three Championship games.
Since January 2014 he has managed to serve seven suspensions and his latest was for picking up five bookings by the middle of September.
Speaking of which, Henri Lansbury is now only one booking away from a two match ban, having picked up nine so far (eight in Championship, one in the League Cup, with the ninth of course coming in Friday’s match.
With the return game only four weeks after last Friday’s fiasco, Newcastle’s fans…and no doubt the odd player, were already relishing welcoming Henri Lansbury to St James Park.
However, Forest fans are already speculating that Lansbury will bottle it and engineer events so he is banned from the game at Newcastle on Friday 30 December.
Nottingham Forest are away to Derby and then home to Preston, so if he avoids a card in those games and then gets one in either the Wolves (home) or Huddersfield (home) matches that follow, he will not be guest of honour when we face Forest.
Nothing beats a pantomime baddie to get the crowd going, so let’s hope Henri Lansbury does make an appearance, although I can live without another pantomime baddie in the shape of Steve Martin….
What Nottingham Forest fans have said about Henri Lansbury and the upcoming game at St James Park, as seen on top Forest supporters message board Forest Forum:
‘Henri Lansbury is a con man and a cheat and was in rife form on Friday night. Regardless of what anyone else did or does that’s exactly what he is and to see it becoming more and more frequent in a forest shirt disgusts me.
He’s not the only one in football..but he’s one of the main ones in our league and it saddens me that’s a part of my club. You can’t tell me if he was playing for anyone else you would not think he was a complete tw*t?’
‘If they do (ban players for diving), they have to do it for the other 100 players that do it every single week.
Including Dwight Gale & Matt Ritchie, who did the same thing as Lansbury all game – but didn’t do it in important positions.’
‘I was wondering if Henri will time it perfectly and get his 10th yellow, so he misses Wolves and NEWCASTLE.’
‘I’d bet my house on him getting that 10th yellow card before Newcastle away. He won’t fancy 50,000 Geordies screaming at him!!’
‘Was thinking the same when Newcastle fans were saying ‘wait until he comes up here’.’
‘Neither Derby or Newcastle fans like him then, I bet he’s gutted…
As for not wanting to play up there I think he’d love to wind the Geordie tw*ts up even more. It’s going to be a tasty contest whoever plays.’
‘Due to decision by the FA review panel to rescind both Newcastle’s red cards – Got a feeling referees will make a point of not awarding decisions our way that involve Lansbury in the future.’
