Rafa Benitez Hull Press Conference: Confidence, motivation, team selection & Gamez update
The Rafa Benitez Hull press conference has taken place on Monday lunchtime.
The Newcastle boss saying that he thinks more Newcastle fans should have been allocated tickets for the quarter-final clash, with forecasts of a half empty stadium, or worse.
Despite this, the restriction on how much support his team will have, won’t affect the result according to Rafa.
However, he says that despite the opposition being third bottom, they must start the game as favourites being a Premier League club playing at home, against second tier opposition.
Rafe Benitez once again reiterated that any team changes he makes, he is ‘convinced it is still a strong team’, with many fans feeling that he maybe went a little bit too far with six changes on Saturday against Blackburn.
Jesus Gamez was stretchered off the pitch but maybe it is better news on what looked a nasty injury, with the United boss saying that the defender might not need an operation – and even if he does, he shouldn’t be out longer than six weeks.
Rafa Benitez Hull press conference:
“Our approach will be the same. We were doing well in the cup because we have a strong squad.
“If I change players, it is because I am convinced it is still a strong team.
“In terms of the game, it will be tough for both teams… They are a dangerous team to play against.
“I’m very pragmatic… The cup competitions are a chance to well, to progress
“It’s a motivation for us to play against a Premier League team. They play at home, so they have a little bit of an advantage.
“When you play two games a week, the next game is a chance to change things.
“We approach every game with confidence. We know that we will have the right motivation and the concentration to do well.”
