The predicted Newcastle team v Hull to take NUFC into the semi-finals

Here is the predicted Newcastle team v Hull.

The Manager has given some clues, in confirming that as well as Rolando Aarons and Jesus Gamez, Rob Elliot won’t be considered for this match, whilst local media report that Jack Colback will still be missing with the eye problem that ruled him out of the Blackburn match.

So who will be the 11 selected for tonight’s 7.45pm kick-off?

Firstly, it must surely be a no-brainer that Dwight Gayle starts after being rested on Saturday, whilst Mohamed Diame looks set to play the free role behind him.

Returning to the scene of last season’s excellent campaign will hopefully reawaken the midfielder’s form, whilst Perez’ poor display against Blackburn makes the decision even easier.

Colback’s expected absence makes the Shelvey/Hayden combination all but certain to continue, whilst Matt Ritchie will surely get the nod with Rafa set to revert to just the one winger.

Yoan Gouffran looks certain to fill in on the other side with his workrate a valuable asset for what looks to be a tough battle ahead, hopefully his record of winning every game he has started this season will remain at midnight tonight.

Dummett and Lascelles look in line to return after being rested on Saturday, whilst United’s best defender, Ciaran Clark, should stay in to resume his promising partnership with Lascelles.

Right-back is maybe most difficult to call but on balance I fancy Yedlin to stay in for this one and Anita to come in on Friday against Forest.

Rafa Benitez wouldn’t commit but did say Matz Sels was a possibility to play – I would guess he is odds-on as Rafa looks to keep his Belgian keeper’s confidence up and maintain his ploy of playing the current second choice keeper in the League Cup.

Let battle commence.
