Dear Championship Supporters,
As Newcastle fans, it has become clear that we and our club are proving not too popular so far this season.
I can only apologise for the clear cheating that has gone on within the corridors of St James Park and beyond.
It was a radical step for Mike Ashley to take, by actually employing the best possible person for the job. We accept that it would have been much fairer to have employed yet another out of work loser from the lower divisions, to finish off the job of ruining Newcastle United, rather than appointing Rafa Benitez.
We accept that it is also unforgivable that money generated by fifty thousand crowds and parachute payments, is being spent on football players to try and get NUFC back into the Premier League, rather than being donated to charity.
As Newcastle fans, we can’t defend the underhand move of letting Rafa choose the transfers in and out, buying players that are needed, rather than continuing to allow the likes of Wise, Kinnear, Charnley and Carr to chase the ‘dream’ of buying bargain £XXm French wingers in the hope of them turning out to be future £130m superstars.
We, the Newcastle supporters, must also admit our guilt when it comes to blindly backing our team. Disgracefully buying more season tickets before a ball was kicked this season, than NUFC sold in the Premier League last year, going on to average over fifty thousand at St James Park and set to have more fans watch Newcastle United at home than all but five or six other clubs in Europe this season.
On the subject of support, Newcastle fans can only apologise for buying up every single away ticket to support their team, whilst at the same time giving your club its biggest crowd of the season and largest payday.
We accept that our normal place in the scheme of things is for our club to give everybody else in football a good laugh, though on that front, at least Sunderland have stepped up bravely to take up the mantle.
So Championship fans of the other 23, we the Newcastle supporters can only thank you for the experience so far and hopefully we won’t be hanging around too much longer with our annoying cheating ways.
Here’s to another six months of winding you up further.
A Newcastle Fan
