One Newcastle star dropped and one plays in England v Scotland clash
Gordon Strachan has made sweeping changes ahead of England v Scotland on Friday night.
The Scottish boss has made eight changes from the side that gave minimal resistance in losing 3-0 to Slovakia.
Newcastle eyes were on Matt Ritchie and Grant Hanley ahead of the game, with the United defender facing criticism on all sides for his recent international performances.
Sure enough, one of the Newcastle players has been dropped, but it is Ritchie and not Hanley who has been left out.
Instead, Grant Hanley is one of the three who keep their places, with Darren Fletcher and Robert Snodgrass the other two – Matt Ritchie is amongst the substitutes.
There are rumours Strachan could resign if losing tonight and his team selection does have a look of last gasp desperation about it.
The match kicks off at 7.45pm and the two teams are:
England: Hart, Walker, Rose, Dier, Cahill, Stones, Sterling, Henderson, Sturridge, Rooney, Lallana
Scotland: Gordon, Anya, Berra, Hanley, Wallace, Fletcher, Morrison, Brown, Snodgrass, Forrest, Griffiths
