Newcastle United ended up with an uncomfortable final few minutes against Cardiff City but one NUFC player was head and shoulders above his teammates yet again, as another three points were gathered.

A bit of an unsung hero this season, Ciaran Clark has been recognised in the latest official EFL Team of the Week

The Newcastle centre-back now has a record this season of played 12, 11 wins and the only ‘blemish’, a 1-1 draw back at Villa Park.

Not only was he once again United’s best defender against Cardiff, Clark was also man of the match, confidently bringing the ball out of defence as well as dealing with everything a poor visiting team threw at Newcastle

Now he is named in the EFL team of the week, with their official website stating:

Defender: Ciaran Clark (Newcastle United)

Newcastle made it seven Sky Bet Championship wins in a row with Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Cardiff City.

Clark impressed at the heart of the defence throughout, defending solidly as the league-leading Magpies marched on.
