Newcastle, Sunderland & Middlesbrough feature in Top 20 UK average attendances
A list of the Top 20 average attendances for football clubs in the UK was published today.
The figures relate to home league average attendances so far this season, including Scottish clubs as well as those in the English Premier League and Championship.
Manchester United and Arsenal top the Talksport figures, with Celtic in third place, just ahead of another Premier League trio of Man City, West Ham and Liverpool.
Newcastle United come in seventh place, though the Talksport figure of 50,087 is a little bit off.
A total of 404,942 have attended the eight Championship home games so far at St James Park (see breakdown below), at an average of 50,617. Not that this makes any difference to NUFC’s placing up or down.
Rangers follow a couple of thousand behind Newcastle, with then a drop of seven thousand to Sunderland in ninth.
A surprise to some people is that Middlesbrough (30,540) are relatively high up in 15th, with them being 11th highest when taking out Championship clubs and those north of the border.
