Mitro says Wales should be terrified
In typical bullish mood, Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has said that Wales should be ‘afraid’ of Serbia’s attacking threat.
The United striker pointing to himself, Katai and Tadic as three players that can hurt the Welsh.
With four goals in his last three Newcastle matches and four goals in his last four appearances for Serbia, Mitrovic says that he is in form and hopes to play a major part in a win tonight.
Group D looks perfectly poised:
7 Republic of Ireland
With Austria also hosting the Republic of Ireland tonight, Saturday could be pivotal in making one country hot favourites to qualify.
At best, Mitrovic could find himself three points clear at the top if both Serbia and Austria get victories, whilst alternatively, wins for Ireland and Wales would see Serbia only third – three points behind the Irish and one behind the Welsh.
With injuries hitting Chris Coleman, Newcastle’ Paul Dummett is looking very likely to be one of the centre-backs asked to deal with an ‘on-fire Mitro’.
“The Welsh should be afraid of our attackers, Tadic, Katai, me.
“I have been playing well lately and I’m in shape, I hope to contribute to a victory for Serbia against Wales with some goals.
“Wales have several individual who have quality like Joe Allen, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale – but if we play as a team, it should not be a problem.
“I would only be satisfied with the three points, we have an opportunity to win the game, even though we are playing in Wales.”
You can watch the match tonight live on Sky Sports 1 at 7.45pm, it follows live coverage of Ciaran Clark’s Republic of Ireland at 5pm on the same channel.
