Leeds legend explains why Newcastle will lose at Elland Road.

Leeds legend Eddie Gray has got growing confidence that his old club are going to pull off a win on Sunday.

The former Scottish international winger thinks that two factors are in Leeds United’s favour.

Eddie Gray thinks the home team will win because they have the ‘momentum’ and because they will have the vast majority of a sold out crowd behind them.

He also clearly thinks that playing the team top of the Championship will also take some of the pressure/expectation off Leeds United.

Interesting to see how both sides react to the atmosphere from a first Leeds home sellout in six years, surely more of a novelty/new experience for the Leeds players, as the Newcastle team are used to playing in front of fifty thousand every other game.

In terms of momentum, both teams have got plenty.

Newcastle United have 25 points from the last 30 and Leeds are next best with 22, the only team to better both over the last 10 games are Brighton, with Chris Hughton’s players picking up 26 points from a possible 30.

Eddie Gray talking to Leeds United TV:

“The good thing about the next game is that we are playing the team that are top of the division.

“In general, everybody will be expecting Newcastle to win.

“I don’t expect Newcastle will win the game. I think we’ll win the game.

“I think Leeds have got the momentum and we will have the crowd.”
