Ahead of Sunday’s big game, which is feeling more important by the day, I asked my good friend, Leeds fan, and prolific tweeter @PositiveLufcFan (The Positive Leeds Fan), to answer a few questions about the game and Leeds United (and Newcastle United) in general.

To help give a bit of context to the answers, this Leeds fan is 23 years of age.

With 22 points from the last 30, he has had quite a lot to be positive about recently.

Here’s what was said;

What have you made of Leeds’ season so far?

After a slightly shaky start, we’ve been outstanding over the last few months.

If you’d have told me we’d be in the top 6 by December I’d have taken that in an instant!

What did you make of the Garry Monk appointment and how do you think he has done since taking on the job?

I was delighted when we appointed Monk. He’s oozed class since he came and worked wonders with the team over the last few months.

Do you want Massimo Cellino to sell up and go, or stay (will chaos always follow Leeds whilst he is in charge)?

We’re Leeds United, we’ll always have chaos and drama in some sense – I kind of wouldn’t want it any other way though.

With regards to Cellino, I think the perfect scenario would be to sell up when the season’s over (obviously would be tricky if we did go up), but right now things are fairly quiet behind the scenes which is refreshing.

There are a lot of similarities between Leeds Utd and Newcastle Utd, both have huge fanbases, both have suffered premier league relegation due to mismanagement, and both have had major problems with ownership. But what differences do you see between the two?

Leeds will always take more fans.

What’s your best/favourite memory as a Leeds fan?

January 3rd, 2010. Jermaine Beckford. 19th minute. Stretford End. (Leeds won 1-0 at Old Trafford in 3rd round of FA Cup)

Any memories of past Leeds-Newcastle games that particularly stand out?

To be complete honest, absolutely nothing.

One improvement that should be made at your club?

I wish they’d bring ‘Strings For Yasmine’ back to Elland Road before kick-off. Sounds like a bit of a petty improvement but the feeling when that song plays before the game gets underway… complete nostalgia.

Player of the season so far?

No doubt about it – Pontus Jansson.

How do you think the season as a whole has gone so far and how does that compare to how you felt  before the start of the season?

As mentioned before, obviously we didn’t get off to the best of starts but I’m delighted with where we’re at now. I thought we’d be in/around the play-offs come Christmas time before we started the season.

Looking ahead to Sundays game now, which Leeds player should toon fans watch out for?

(Central midfielder) Kalvin Phillips. Got a feeling he’ll score a free kick this weekend.

What have you made of Newcastle so far and how do you see our season panning out?

Absolutely class. Can’t see anyone beating you to the title to be honest.

I’ll happily let you win the league if we can have second.

Thoughts on how game will go on Sunday?

2-1 Leeds (Gayle for Newcastle, Wood and then Phillips with the winner)
