The Championship form table got close in September to having the perfect look, only for Wolves to spoil it with a 2-0 shock win at St James Park.

However, after the win at Preston and ahead of the game against Cardiff, Newcastle United have got all their ducks in a line, with six WWWWWW showing as recent form over the last half dozen games.

Yes, it was five wins in a row from the Reading game onwards back in August, heading into September, but this time from the 4-3 game against Norwich through to the 2-1 at Deepdale, Newcastle have reached relative perfection.

The question is whether they can maintain this look after Saturday and stretch it to seven wins (eight if you included the 6-0 cup win) against the Bluebirds on Saturday.

Whilst Cardiff are 21st of 24 in the current Championship table, on current form they are picking up.

They are only 17th in the form table below but you really have to look at their last four results.

The first 11 matches saw only 8 points from 33 picked up and then they appointed Neil Warnock.

The last four games have seen 7 points from 12, with two wins and a draw, a 1-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Wigan spoiling a near perfect start to the buffoon’s time as Cardiff manager.

Whether this is simply new manager bounce or something of more substance remains to be seen – but let’s just hope we will still be seeing WWWWWW in the Championship form table after Saturday’s encounter with Cardiff.
