News on Wednesday afternoon that NUFC have had to send another 858 tickets down to the West Midlands after the initial away allocation was snapped up for the Newcastle v Birmingham game.
The Birmingham Mail says that the initial allocation ‘sold out within hours’ of going on general sale.
Birmingham City had taken an initial 2,326 tickets for the visit to St James Park and the extra 858 will bring them up to the maximum 3,184 usually made available to away clubs.
Birmingham are currently fifth in the table, 12 points behind Newcastle and 7 off an automatic promotion place.
The game is only two weeks before Christmas (Saturday 10 December 3pm K/O) and fair play to the Brummies, as it looks certain they will be filling the away end.
Elsewhere today, Blackburn confirmed they had sold 1,300 tickets so far for Saturday’s game, after taking an allocation of 1,600.
Meanwhile, after refusing to give Newcastle fans more than the bare minimum of tickets (2,474) for the League Cup quarter final, it has been revealed that with only six days to go until the match, only around five thousand Hull supporters have bought tickets.
