Newcastle scouts will be in Vienna tonight as Austria play the Republic of Ireland at the Happel Stadium.
The match kicks off at 5pm with Newcastle United’s Ciaran Clark expected to play in this important World Cup qualifier.
Also in Group D, Wales play Serbia tonight at 7.45pm, with Paul Dummett potentially facing Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Austrian media outlet Laola1 have confirmed that Newcastle scouts will be at the Austria v Ireland game.
Also in attendance will be representatives from PSV, Aston Villa, Bristol City, Celtic, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Sunderland.
It has been previously reported that Newcastle are keeping an eye on a number of talented Austrian midfielders, though this afternoon could see Dundalk’s Daryl Horgan make his international debut.
The 24 year old winger has been player of the season in Ireland this season and becomes a free agent in December, Newcastle have been credited with interest and were said to have watched him at last weekend’s Irish Cup Final, as well as previously in the Europa League against Zenit.
The player himself said that he would have to consider it if a club like Newcastle United did come in for him.
