Alan Shearer wishes he was out on the pitch today as Newcastle take on Leeds.

Little surprise when you look back at just how prolific he was against the team from Elland Road.

Alan Shearer scored more goals against Leeds United than any other club, 20 goals in 19 Premier League matches.

The Newcastle legend declaring, ‘As for Leeds, I’d still fancy my chances of scoring against them on Sunday!’.

Purely for Newcastle, this was the Alan Shearer record when he came up against Leeds United, a magnificent 12 goals in 12 matches.

This is also a reminder of how often we had great matches against these rivals, not all of them wins but some monumental clashes.

Alan Shearer talking to Coral:

‘Newcastle travel to Leeds this weekend and I wish I was playing because I always scored against Leeds!

When Leeds got relegated from the Premier League I was gutted because it cost me three or four goals each season.

For whatever reason, I just loved playing against Leeds, whether it was for Southampton, Blackburn or Newcastle.

There weren’t many clubs I struggled against but Birmingham was one of them. I did not play against them that often in my career but they would have to be my bogey side.

As for Leeds, I’d still fancy my chances of scoring against them on Sunday!’
