64% of the people can’t be wrong when handing Newcastle United this award
A bit like Rafa Benitez sharing his October Manager of the Month award with his coaching staff, so all 11 Newcastle players should have had a hand on the October goal of the month award.
A brilliant 11 man Newcastle United move against Ipswich was one of three finally whittled down to compete for the Championship Goal of the month for October.
Seconds into the game, all 11 Newcastle players touched the ball without any interference from the opposition, the move ending with Jonjo Shelvey sending out a laser-like long pass out to Dummett on the left, he crossed and Yoan Gouffran headed it on, straight into the path of Ayoze Perez who was arriving late into the box and who volleyed home (see the goal again below).
Little wonder that the final voting from football fans, revealed on Friday morning by Sky Sports, is so decisive:
64% Ayoze Perez – NEWCASTLE v Ipswich
25% Jonathan Kodjia – ASTON VILLA v Fulham
11% Wes Hoolahan – NORWICH v Rotherham
The footage was beamed around the world to universal praise, a testament to the brilliant job Rafa Benitez is doing.
This is how Sky described the goal when revealing the three nominations:
Ayoze Perez – NEWCASTLE UNITED v Ipswich Town
A great team goal involving all 11 Newcastle players straight from kick-off. Perez finished the move with a powerful volley without Ipswich getting a touch.
