It was a bad night for the young Newcastle United stars, as they were taken apart 4-1 by Wolves at Molineux.

Within seconds Connor Johnson gave the home side the lead, with the second quickly arriving on 10 minutes courtesy of Donovan Wilson.

Newcastle came back into it as the first half went on but couldn’t find a goal.

Then on the hour mark NUFC were eventually given hope, when Jamie Holmes was brought down in the box.

Sean Longstaff made it 2-1 from the spot and Aaron Simpson was given a second yellow card, giving Newcastle the numerical advantage.

However, only two minutes later Wilson made it 3-1 to the home side and set them on the way to victory.

Longstaff almost pulled it back to 3-2 but Donovan Wilson notched his hat-trick with  10 minutes remaining to complete the win and the scoring.

A sad finale to the game as after a long stoppage to the match, Callum Roberts was stretchered from the pitch.

The Newcastle winger has his first call-up and action for England in recent days, after making the Under 20s squad alongside Adam Armstrong.
