Sky Sports pundit asked if Newcastle or Sunderland are better now…?

So have Newcastle United or Sunderland got the stronger squad now?

That was the question posed to former Norwich and Villa boss Paul Lambert when appearing on Sky Sports.

Currently between jobs, Lambert is doing various media work as he waits to see if he gets the vacant role at Wolves.

With Sunderland currently rock bottom of the Premier League and Newcastle flying high at the top of the Championship, the reality is that only one position effectively divides the two clubs.

Paul Lambert claimed it was a ‘difficult question’ and decided to ‘answer’ it by simply talking up the positives currently at Newcastle, rather than the negatives at Sunderland…

In one of the understatements of the year/millenium, the Sky Sports pundit said that Newcastle have more ‘momentum’ than Sunderland ‘at the minute’.

Lambert saying that in Rafa Benitez, Newcastle have (at last) got a manager ‘who knows what he doing’.

Pointing to the twin advantages Newcastle have got over Sunderland, Paul Lambert says that NUFC have got Rafa who has ‘galvanised them’ as well as the backing of an incredible fifty thousand fans every week in the Championship.

Paul Lambert talking to Sky Sports:

“It is a difficult question.

“Newcastle have more momentum at the minute but you are talking about a manager in Rafa Benitez who knows what he is doing.

“Rafa Benitez has gone in there and galvanised them.

“If you are getting fifty thousand then it’s a big help.”
