The results of the Newcastle v Preston player ratings.
Some really interesting results from fans after Saturday’s game at Deepdale, effort from all the players but a lot of players below par.
Newcastle supporters have gone for the same player as man of the match against Preston, twice in five days.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (8.2) scoring another two goals but this time they made the difference between winning and losing.
The two other stand out performers were at the other end of the pitch, with some great saves from Karl Darlow (7.8) and Ciaran Clark (7.9) yet again easily United’s best defender.
Only two others of the starting 11 managed 7.0 or better, with DeAndre Yedlin (7.3) putting in another energy-fuelled display (and the cross for the winning goal) until felled by a coin thrown from the crowd, whilst Jamaal Lascelles (7.0) put in a decent shift alongside the impressive Clark.
Other end of the spectrum saw Mohamed Diame (5.2) totally anonymous, whilst Yoan Gouffran (5.6) put in arguably his most ineffective game so far this season.
The centre of the pitch saw a rare struggle, as Isaac Hayden (6.0) and Jonjo Shelvey (6.4) emerged as part of the winning team despite losing the midfield battle for once.
Elsewhere, Matt Ritchie (6.7) was ok and released Aleksandar Mitrovic for the opening goal, whilst Paul Dummett (6.6) put in a willing shift at left-back.
