One current and one former Newcastle striker named in official EFL Team of The Week
Dwight Gayle was named in the EFL team of midweek after his two goals against Barnsley, now Ayoze Perez has repeated the trick in the EFL Team of The Week.
The Spanish midfielder/striker scored two and made one as Newcastle beat Ipswich 3-0 to go three points clear at the top of the Championship.
Left out at Barnsley, Perez returned to help United win their fifth game in a row.
After the game, the former Tenerife player said it was a ‘very nice mood’ in the dressing room.
The Newcastle star named in their best eleven of this latest round of fixtures, with the EFL official website stating:
“A Newcastle striker at the double for the third game in a row, but this time it was Ayoze Perez grabbing the goals as the Magpies eased past Ipswich Town.
Two emphatic finishes put the Sky Bet Championship leaders two goals to the good, and the Spaniard supplied Matt Ritchie for the third and final goal of the afternoon.”
Appropriately the only two Championship players to make this EFL Team of The Week are set to play each other potentially twice in the next five days, as well as Perez, Preston’s Alex Baptiste also gets in the side.
Former Newcastle forward Adam Campbell also makes the team, scoring twice for Notts County at the weekend.

Erhun Oztumer (Walsall)
