The results of the Newcastle v Barnsley player ratings.

A hard fought first half set the platform, Newcastle United going on to notch yet another away victory with a 2-0 win at Oakwell.

What did the Newcastle fans make of each player on the pitch?

Another two goals for Dwight Gayle, making it seven in the last four games, saw the striker predictably pick up your man of the match award with a rating of 9.1.

The other part of the double act, Jonjo Shelvey (7.9), taking a supporting role this time.

Another five of the starting eleven rated 7.0 or better, as the team produced a very professional performance, not giving the home side an inch.

Matt Ritchie (7.6) was back in the side and at his non-stop best, a lovely through ball creating the second goal to kill off Barnsley.

Ciaran Clark matched that 7.6 rating to share third place, once again Newcastle’s best defender.

Whilst Karl Darlow (7.5) didn’t have many/any really difficult saves to make, he once again exuded confidence and dominated his box.

Jamaal Lascelles (7.1) formed a strong partnership with Clark, whilst Isaac Hayden (7.2) provided a good foil for Shelvey to do the more attacking side of the game.

At the other end of the spectrum we once again have Mohamed Diame (5.6), once again failing to convince fans on his return to the team.

Vurnon Anita (6.9) linked well with Matt Ritchie, whilst Dummett (6.6) and Gouffran (6.6) gave committed but workmanlike performances.

Below are the ratings as voted by Newcastle fans up to 7.30m on Wednesday night.
