Newcastle star becomes charity ambassador
Newcastle star Ayoze Perez has become a charity ambassador.
Only hours after scoring United’s sixth and final goal as a late sub versus Preston, the former Tenerife player has been unveiled by Newcastle United Foundation as their new ambassador.
The charitable wing of the club which is a stand alone organisation, says that Ayoze Perez is a ‘hero and a role model’ to the people that they work with.
Great to hear of anybody representing Newcastle United, whether it be Rafa Benitez or any of his players, who go that extra mile in contributing to the local community.
‘Newcastle United Foundation is excited to announce Ayoze Perez as an Ambassador for the charity.
The Newcastle United Forward has been a regular visitor to Foundation events during his time with the Club, most recently surprising the Girls U9 Development Squad at their training session earlier this month.
It was following that visit Ayoze got in touch with the Foundation to ask whether there was any opportunity to become further involved with the organisation.
Newcastle United Foundation engages with almost 50,000 children, young people and adults every year through education, health, employability and football projects across Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland and North Tyneside.
Ayoze Perez said: “I’ve been to a few Foundation sessions in my time at Newcastle United and every time it has been something different. I realised that there is so much going on in the Community and I felt like I wanted to get more involved and see more of all the good things the Foundation is doing.
“People get involved with the Foundation because they are fans and in some way they need help – they support us so much that I want to help the Foundation support them.”
Head of Newcastle United Foundation Kate Bradley added:
“We’re thrilled to have Ayoze’s support – he is a hero and role model to so many of the people we work with. It means a lot that he wants to be more involved and help raise awareness of our work in the community. We’re really excited to be working more closely with Ayoze and getting him involved in some exciting future plans.”
