Newcastle 3 Ipswich 0 – Saturday 22 October 3pm
We asked a number of our regular writers to give us a brief instant reaction after the final whistle:
Leazes Park Ender:
“Might sound arrogant but that was a win achieved in third gear.
“Nobody was scintillating but we did more than enough to see off a team who had only conceded nine so far.
“Perez the hero today. We push on from here.”
“Brilliant day yet again. This train is gathering some serious momentum.
“Ipswich were solid in defence but had nowt going forward and we absolutely bossed them.
“Got a bit nervous mid second half until the second went in but that’s more from experience of NUFC than anything this current team shows.
“Big challenge next with a double header against an in-form Preston. I’m sure we’ll be up for it.
“This is mint. It’s brilliant.”
“What a start to the game!
“Played really well first 30 mins or so.
“Game died a bit before it came back to life with two great goals.
“Confidence is running through the team, all the signs are looking good to stay at the top..”
“Another routine victory.
“How bad were Ipswich?
“We’ve won 3-0 without having to play that well. No one was exceptional, not that we had to be.
“Three nice goals but a part of me wishes Leon Best had scored in the first half.”
“First 30 mins were excellent, only complaint being we only scored once.
“The crowd fed off that and were noisy until it all became a little flat.
“Took a little while to get our rhythm going again but how we scored two quick quick goals and effectively finished the game off, was excellent.
“Particularly enjoyed Ritchie’s goal, fantastic!
“Results elsewhere an added bonus!”
“Spreading out the goalscorers, clean sheet, loads of goals… aye, go on then!”
“We are finally showing the form and performances we expected before the season started.
“Perez has to be in the team over Diame from now on.
“Those two opening defeats are extremely annoying, as the bookies would be already paying out on us getting promoted!!”
“We’re Newcastle and we’re going to WIN THE LEAGUE!
“In all honesty we made hard work of it for the first hour, too slow tippy tappy.
“Soon as we went at them, took them to bits. Atmosphere reflected the pace until the second goal. Richie’s finish iced a very easy cake.
“Tougher games to come but it’s going to be a great night!”
