Mike Ashley – Friend or Foe?
This is a tough one. I’m not trying to cause uproar by any means with this article but…
We all know what Mike Ashley has done and not done for this club, more the latter to be honest.
Now the stories have started about he has turned down offers for the club in recent times.
As a club we seem to have turned a corner. Doing well, a manager like Rafa in the Ashley era is something that we could have only dreamed of in the past. We all thought this would only ever happen if Mike Ashley took his minions, sold up and got out of Toon.
So back to my point, I’d like an honest opinion from season ticket holders, the away day travellers and fans in general.
If we continue on our current path with an entertaining side and world class manager and with the potential to be good for the foreseeable future, would you still prefer Mike Ashley to sell up and disappear for good?? And maybe risk shaking things up from top to bottom again.
My take on this.
We are as fans are enjoying great football again but only because of the mess Mike Ashley has caused in the first place. Getting us relegated twice because of his stubborn money-making ways.
I can’t forgive Ashley for what he has put us through during his ownership of this club but he seems to have changed his ways of thinking, not that he would ever admit he got it wrong and yes – he has changed his way for money reasons and for nothing else.
A while back I’d have screamed ‘sell’ if I ever thought he was going to get out this club but now, I would sooner he remain and believe me, I hate to say that, but would it be worse if he did decide to sell?
I’m quite happy to be honest if he just lets the people run the club who know what they are doing and not use it as a toy….but in the back of my mind I’m just waiting for him to stab us all in the back when it suits.
This is going to be always there in my mind, regardless of how good it gets.
As a club we are in a good place, in the Championship granted. We should be in the Premier League and that’s not meant to be disrespectful to the clubs in the Championship, just we have ended up there twice because of one man.
Like I say, it would be interesting to see what your honest opinions are…
