Great news for Newcastle fans as Leeds United have confirmed on Wednesday afternoon, that they will be giving the ‘highest possible’ number of tickets to the travelling black and white army.
With 5,900 Newcastle supporters at Barnsley last night (watch this excellent footage of NUFC fans HERE) and all 5,600 tickets sold for the trip to Preston a week on Saturday, there is no doubt the Leeds trip will quickly sell out.
The shortest away trip of the season and a long-standing bitter rivalry between the two sets of fans (can’t believe it is over 13 years since we played a competitive game at Elland Road!), it could easily be a full house despite live TV coverage and the fan-unfriendly Sunday (20 November) 1.15pm kick-off.
No confirmation as yet of exactly how many tickets Newcastle fans will receive but the Leeds United announcement has come now due to the demand for tickets by home fans for the fixture.
The Yorkshire club say they have brought forward the on sale date due to numerous enquiries from their supporters.
As for prices, it appears that Newcastle fans (adults) will pay at least £28 for a ticket as that is the minimum Leeds supporters are paying.
Leeds United Official Announcement:
NEWCASTLE: TICKETS TO GO ON SALE EARLIER!
Due to the anticipated demand, tickets for our home fixture with Newcastle United on Sunday 20th November (kick off 1.15pm) will go on sale to Members earlier than planned. The Ticket Office have already received a significant number of enquiries for this fixture.
A big crowd is expected for the visit of the Magpies who last came to Elland Road for a 2-2 draw back in August 2003 with Mark Viduka and Alan Smith on target for Leeds. The fixture has historically been well attended by both sets of supporters, with over 36,000 in attendance for the previous fixture at Elland Road, which always makes for a great atmosphere.
Leeds United Members will be able to purchase tickets from Monday 24th October 2016 at 9am, with general sale following a week later on Monday 31st October 2016.
We have provided Newcastle United with the highest possible allocation of away tickets, and we would like to take this opportunity to state that, for safety reasons, any away supporters identified in the home general admission seating areas will be ejected from the stadium.
To help ensure that the home areas are kept for Leeds United supporters only, the club will temporarily stop new registrations on our ticketing database from midnight on 30th October, and throughout the general sales period.
The only way for Leeds United supporters to guarantee their seat for the clash will be to become a member before general sale commences. To sign up to become a member today please click here.
