Rafa Benitez has been speaking on Monday lunchtime at his Preston press conference.

In his press conference, Rafa Benitez confirmed that he would be making changes to give his team ‘fresh legs’.

As to the opposition, the United boss says that Preston are full of confidence, having just beaten Huddersfield and Norwich.

However, Rafa speculates that with a small squad, Preston may well be putting their focus on the Championship and accept they can’t compete in the cup at the same time.

The club confirmed before the Rafa Benitez Preston press conference that ticket sales had passed forty thousand for the Cup game, with Level 7 seats now being sold.

The Newcastle Manager expressed his pleasure at that and says ‘It is important for the fans to have that possibility of winning trophies’.

I couldn’t agree more.

Rafa Benitez:

“Maybe they (Preston) will consider they won’t do well in the cups and focus on the league.

“Preston are doing well. They have a good team, they’re happy, enjoying themselves and working very hard.

“We want to be sure we have fresh legs –  a strong team but with some different players.

“I am enjoying the moment. We will have more than 40,000 fans for this game, and I’m really pleased with that.

“Preston will have confidence, and they’re a team with experience.

“We are trying to work it in a way where everyone (in the squad) is involved.

“We’re using the different players for different games – it will be a strong team but with different players.

“I think it’s important for the fans to have that possibility of winning trophies.”
